Headhunter's Club

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

This was the final show Cosaco Station ever put on, and we made sure it was worth their while. I do believe we were the only band to have any draw, and we packed the house. Fortunately, our people were good enough to stay for the band that followed us (a great band out of San Antonio called Los Rokmantix). Our performance was a good one, high energy, and the audience was very into it. Everyone in attendance was so close that they were at times distracting the performance, which of course made for a great time! It's shows like this that make it all worth our while. We're looking to book fewer shows in Austin, target San Antonio more aggressively, and hopefully have more shows like this in Austin in 2009.

Bohemeo's

Houston, Texas

About The Show:

This was our first show at Bohemeo's, and we really liked the venue. We played outdoors on a clear day that was 65 degrees. This was the most space we had ever had as a stage, and it really made a difference. This could possibly have been our best performance. The sound was really good, so I heard from those in attendance. Lupe does a great job with Bohemeo's, he really cares about his establishment, and it shows. We're looking forward to going back.

On this same weekend was Madonna, and all of Becky's friends were there in attendance. They seemed to have a good time. Our show kicked off their weekend of fun, and there was a good vibe in the air for that reason. A very good time for everyone. We hope to have more shows at Bohemeo's.

The Cold Brew

Laredo, Texas

About The Show:

It was our first show in Laredo, and it was a good time. A local band named Deveat were nice enough to give us a spot on the bill for that evening. The turnout was good, the bar was full with roughly 100 people in and out throughout the night. Things got off to a rough start with technical difficulties...La Llorona was a mess, but we were able to remedy the problems and get things going on the right track by Putiando. The stage was small, but we still gave a good show. We played with several heavy metal type of bands, so we didn't mix all that well, but people seemed to really enjoy us there. We gave away lots of CDs, and we hope to return sometime soon.

Jovita's Election Night, Obama Party

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

It was a good night for us, both as a band and as Obama supporters. A party was being thrown at Jovita's and they asked for a Rock En Espanol band, so Jovita's gave us a call. I'm glad they did, we had a great time. The place was packed with easily 150-200 people, both indoors and outdoors. We played on the larger indoor stage, and were the "headlining" act, although we were mostly playing as backup band to the event, which was a different role for us that I felt we handled very well. By the time we finished at 10pm, the election was already over. The timing was ideal, both for our finale and for the country.

San Antonio, Texas

About The Show:

Dia de los Muertos was the theme for the night, and the stage was covered with pumpkins. Nice atmosphere. This is a venue we tend to enjoy playing. It was a big night of music all over San Antonio, and the turnout was probably the worst we'd ever had in San Antonio, but our show was probably one of the best we'd played. Most definitely the best performance we had given with our current lineup. We felt really good about this show. For us, it was a return to form...we had good energy onstage, and it felt really good. We're looking forward to a fairly busy schedule ahead of us.

The Copa

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

Last year we really tried to get a Halloween show, but it just wasn't able to happen. This year, we got invited to play at Bocastria's CD release party. We decided to go as the Village People (Becky was the cop, Todd was the construction worker, Romalotti was the biker, James was the cowboy, and Carlos was the Indian), and we put a little "Thriller" breakdown in the bridge of Running. It was really good to play on Halloween, but we were really out of synch, and this was not a good show for us. Everything seemed a little off.

Club 311

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

Our first show in quite a while, and our first show with our new guitarist James Perez. Everything went well, it wasn't an exceptional performance by us, but it's what you'd expect from a change as large as this one. James brings quite a bit of talent to our band. He's a very skilled player, a great singer, a great songwriter, and very professional.

The club was really cool, although the stage was crowded with a lot of "house" instruments not being used. The sound system was subpar, but overall we had a good time.

About The Show:

Our final show before we take a big two-month long break, and a good show it was. In a way, this was a very important show because there will be changes after this point. Those changes began on May 10 at our Jovita's show, and this is show marked the beginning of a fork in the road. Stay tuned...

Pachanga Latino Music Festival in Waterloo Park

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

There is no doubt that we consider this the pinnacle of all the shows we've ever played. Some of the other bands at this very massive festival were Nortec Collective, Pistolera, Grupo Fantasma, Vallejo, Girl In A Coma, La Conquista, and many others (20 total bands). It was an unusually hot day for May, it had gotten up to 99 degrees, but onstage it easily had to be well over 100 degrees. We put on a decent show, and the crowd responded well. I don't think it could've gone much better than it did. Hopefully there'll be another Pachanga Festival in 2009, and hopefully we'll be on the bill as well. Something tells me both scenarios will happen...

FREAKISH ENCOUNTER: A crazy woman out of her mind wrapped in a blanket fell onto the stage, and writhed around as though she had the devil in her. Security chased her off, but appeared to be unsuccessful in apprehending her as she scrambled through the park.

FOX 7 Good Day Austin Morning Show

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

Our third time on the Fox 7 Morning, and it was the best and worst yet. The performance was good, but at the very end of the song, Christian's guitar fell out of key (stretched the strings while soloing on the bridge, and a couple of strings went really flat from it), so it ended terrible. The energy was there, everything was pretty good for the most part, so we'll go ahead and consider that a success. The song we did was Cadenas. We did a "bump" with Running first, then Basta, then we played Cadenas in promotion of the Pachanga Latin Music Festival this coming weekend, and then we closed with a bit of Gleam.

Azteca's

Houston, Texas

About The Show:

Our return to Houston, almost a year later (June 16, 2007) than our first (and only) performance in Houston. Other than our most recent show at Jovita's (which was a complete disaster), we have always considered our show in Houston the worst we'd ever played. We made up for this second time around, although we experienced some technical difficulties during Cayo Hueso & El Fuego Dentro that made it a less than perfect performance. As usually is the case, our energy level was high, and we all had a good time. Timo, our former bassist and Becky's brother, was at the show. Any time spent with Timo is a good time, and he's always been supportive of us. All in all, a good experience, but due to gas prices rising as they are, we probably won't be rushing back to Houston anytime soon.

About The Show:

We could only play a half hour set due to the number of bands booked for the night, but it turned out well, which was a nice change from the last two shows. This night we decided to just go with all the upbeat songs to keep the energy going, and that seemed to work out well in this environment. We played on the patio in a very small area, but it worked well. We had some people come out to check us out, and everyone seemed to have a really good time. It was nice to play an uneventful show for a change! This show was put on by the nice people of Cosaco Station.

"Chikas de Barrio" Benefit for ALMA at Jovita's

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

This show was such an unusually bad experience that I hardly know how to write of it. Our show in Houston at Azteca's in June 2006 was the worst show we'd ever played, but this one now holds that honor. It will be one of the most important shows we will have ever played. First, we tried some new things, and some new songs. Not everything worked well. In fact, most of the new stuff didn't go over too well. We weren't all in great moods, and by Ver Te, Christian and Todd began an argument onstage. It was a bad scene, but it got worse. When Todd began Running a bit too early, Christian decided to step away from us and began soloing during the entire song, making it very difficult for all of us to play. It was a slap in the face, and probably the beginning of a change in the direction of Frenetica that you can trace back to this show. It was a disaster, the worst show we'd ever played. It was the type of show that could end a band. That won't be the case, I know that, but we will learn from this experience and hopefully not have a repeat in the future.

FREAKISH ENCOUNTER: Needless to say, it was the fight we had onstage in the middle of our set.

Salute International Bar

San Antonio, Texas

About The Show:

We learned three things at this show. One, don't book shows in San Antonio when the Spurs are in the playoffs. Two, there's a dark side to Un Dia Mas that we got to see, and we will not book any more shows with them again. Three, don't mess with Azeneth, the owner of Salute. Many things went wrong this day. Bolado ended up not playing, Un Dia Mas (the first band) didn't come back to the venue to begin the show until around 12:30, at which point Azeneth was not happy at all. Words were exchanged between Un Dia Mas & Azeneth, and then it got even worse...he ended up calling the cops and the ambulance, and pressing charges. There was no show after all.

KSYM 90.1 "Jarabe de Yoyotli" radio show with DJ Carnalita

San Antonio, Texas

About The Show:

It felt like a disaster. It was one of those situations where it felt like everything that could go wrong did go wrong. We performed for the first 45 minutes, and then went into our interview. The interview was a lot of fun, and that went really well, but all the while we were thinking we were terrible until we heard the CD of the show that the station made, and it sounded surprisingly good! We came to realize we're unnecessarily hard on ourselves, a bit too much of perfectionists. We've since listened to the broadcast several times and have come to realize it turned out really well. This was the first live radio show we ever performed. This show was to promote the upcoming show at Salute on May 3.

Mexican-American Cultural Center's "Hecho a Mano" Arts Market

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

This show fell on the one-year anniversary of our first show, so it was really neat to be able to play with Bocastria again, which was the band that gave us our first show 365 days ago. It was an overcast and balmy day with some drizzle rain spitting now and then, and haze that just made 80 degrees feel miserable...the turnout wasn't quite the 1,000+ people that was anticipated, but it was not bad at all. Lots of advertising, and we were excited that they wanted us to be the "headlining" act, so-to-speak. They really liked our CD with Becky's strong and provocative lyrics.

The show was a good one, we had massive energy, as we've continuously have had since we played at the Mercury Hall around Christmas of 2007. We started off slow (the MACC promoters asked that we tone it down somewhat since it was a family event), and intensified more and more as we went, which was different than how we normally do it, but a fun experiment. It was a day of firsts for us...we had never played during the day, we had never played a "festival" type of environment, and we had never played an outdoor show until this one. Everyone seemed to really enjoy us, and we had a great time. We look forward to playing the MACC again sometime soon.

This was our last scheduled show before we go into the studio to begin recording our second CD, which should be released sometime this summer.

About The Show:

The day before Easter, the weekend after SXSW, and the turnout was predictably low. But those who came out to see us were given a good show. This was one of our top five best shows. We weren't expecting to be the headliners, we were to play second to last (at our own request), but the club was insistent that we be the headliner. It worked out well, we rocked that place. Barack The Vote, Obama Rally at Jovita's

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

This was the first time we ever played a fundraiser/rally type of event, and it was interesting. It was a volunteer effort put on by a grassroots campaign for Barack Obama. Texas will likely be one of the big factors in his campaign for the democratic nomination, which will all be decided on Tuesday the 4th. The purpose of this event was to get people to vote on Tuesday, so the volunteers spent all day walking throughout south Austin neighborhoods, and at the end of a long day, we were the headlining entertainment. It was a mellow atmosphere, and I think the fatigue from our show the night before showed a little bit in our performance, but we put on a decent show and we had a good time. It was nice playing for a different crowd than we normally get at Jovita's, and we were honored to get the chance to do something like this. If Obama becomes the next president, he'll have to thank us personally!

The Mug Room

Corpus Christi, Texas

About The Show:

This weekend was plagued with a lot of strange complications. Maybe someone put a hex on us for this weekend! Lots of delays in getting there, equipment malfunctions, sound system woes...all of it made it difficult to put on a strong show, but we did our best and came out as well as we could have. We originally scheduled the show with Bolado, and then Karnaval came onto the bill...as always is the case, we had a good time with those two bands. It's never a dull night playing with those guys. We brought new shirts, the La Llorona design, which we got on Thursday. Our second shirt design, and we like it a lot.

We have plans to work in a couple of songs into our rotation, Dumb Days and Putiando. We've played them both live before, but they needed tweaking (as we learned when we played them live), so hopefully they'll work out well this time around. We're also in the process of preparing for the studio, to record a new full-length CD.

FREAKISH ENCOUNTER: After the show there was some strage (but attractive) girl chatting with the bands, trying way too hard to get laid. She went home alone, at least as far as the bands were concerned...

About The Show:

We love San Antonio. This show was different because it had been a while since we last played San Antonio, and in that time interest in our band had grown ever so slightly, but it was clear enough to us, and as usual, San Antonio gave us a very warm welcome. We feel that San Antonio "gets us", they understand what we're all about, and they seem to be into it. Salute is a tiny bar, it's not just small, it's tiny. Some bathrooms are larger than this place, but it was nice because it was very intimate with everyone right there in front of us, or standing next to us. This was probably one of the best shows we've played yet as a band. We're getting better at what we're doing, we're playing and learning, and growing as a live act. It was a good show.

About The Show:

This was one of those shows we picked up a few days in advance...Jovita's sometimes needs a Sunday band, and Todd's mother-in-law was in town, so we went ahead and played this show on short notice. Low turnout, as expected, and Christian was ill, so he sat this one out and we played as a four-piece. The Office

Kingsville, Texas

About The Show:

This was our second show in Kingsville, and it was a good one. We played with another Austin band, Boca Abajo, whom we play with very often, and the crowd seemed to like what we were doing. We played first because Boca Abajo pulled into town a bit late, and I think we got the better end of that deal because the audience was very into what we were doing, but by the last half of their set, you could feel the fatigue in the crowd. Too bad since Boca Abajo are such a damn good live show.

We had an interesting thing happen at this show. Some strange woman handed us a note before our first song was over. It was written on a napkin requesting that we turn our volume down a LOT since the drunks at the bar couldn't hear each other's slurred conversations. She plugged her ears right in front of Becky and I expected the woman to soon have fewer teeth than she already had, but I guess Becky was out of kicking range. Then the woman brought back another note, which we didn't even read, and that was the last of her note writing. She did some sign language to us, then Becky signed her back, which freaked her out, so she stopped! We seem to always get some strange person interacting with us at shows.

The Mug Room

Corpus Christi, Texas

About The Show:

This was our second time to play The Mug Room, and it was a very different experience from the first. I still love this bar...if I lived in Corpus, I'd go there regularly because it has a great vibe and a great mix of people. We were scheduled to open for Savor again, but they had a family emergency to deal with, and in the chaos of the situation must've forgotten to let us know they wouldn't be playing. Good thing we brought our own PA along with us! A very cool band filled their spot and opened for us, they were called Refueled, a cover band that played a cool mix of songs. By the time we took the stage, the patrons had downed plenty of alcohol, and there was only so much excitement for us, despite the fact that we put on a great show for them. A handful of people (maybe 70 people total were there) were really into it, and the rest seemed unaware that a band was playing! Overall, it wasn't a great show, but it happens sometimes. Thank you Captain Jack Sparrow for the enthusiasm!

Afterward we stayed at Todd's friend's condo by the beach and that was a good time, although it was hell getting past the security who had their paperwork all messed up.

FREAKISH ENCOUNTER: Captain Jack...this place tends to get some seriously drunk people who love to play the harmonica, sing while playing pool at the top of their lungs, or any other "I'm seriously drunk" type of activities.

About The Show:

The Thursday before this show (January 3rd at midnight on the west coast) we successfully made it into the Top 15 on SiTV's JAMMIN competition. From the Top 15, the judges will choose six contestants to be flown out to LA to participate in the JAMMIN televised competition. Part of what they judge is a video presentation, so we used this show as the taping. We had a good turnout, and we feel the show went well considering two members (including Becky) had bouts with food poisoning two days before the taping. Trophy's

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

We were booked to play a show at Trophy's the weekend before Halloween, but we got bumped at the last minute for some other band that drew a couple of mice, maybe a few roaches, and no one else. It was a tough night to get people to come out because no one was around town, or able to come out, and Boca Abajo had the same luck in getting their regular crowd, but we still managed 72 people, and it turned out to be a pretty good night. A good vibe persisted throughtout the evening, the crowd was into it, and it was a fun show. We played with James Perez & Karnaval (new lineup, they sounded great), Boca Abajo, and Savor from Corpus.

About the show itself, with four bands on for the night, we had to trim our list of songs quite a bit. We played a new song called Dumb Days, and it was so new that the very first time we ever played it together as a band was at practice earlier in the afternoon! It had some rough ends, but worked out well enough. As for the venue, the sound mix was terrible onstage, there was no back-lighting, just lighting from maybe 6 stage lights in front of the band, so it was very difficult seeing the fretboard on the guitars, which was really distracting, but overall it was a good night, and we'd play there again if given the opportunity.

Mercury Hall

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

This was a private party, the first we had ever played, and it was a great time. This was probably the best show we have ever played, strangely enough, at a concert hall that had once been a church for a company party. It was a great time, and I really think that we crossed a boundary today that will be the beginning of a much more intense live show. We will be remembering this performance for a long time.

About The Show:

This was our first show following an extensive break where we were working on new songs, and new aspects to the live show...hoping to liven things up onstage. It was a successful show, we had a lot of Carlos's family present seeing us for the first time, so the vibe was very mellow. Everyone seemed to have a good time, and the new songs and new additions to our live show were all very well received.

FOX 7 Morning Show in Austin

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

We heard about this Christmas show a few months ago, so we wrote a song just for it. We call it Tamales, or The Tamale Song. We did two tapings of the same song back to back, and I believe they'll go with the second version. It'll air on Christmas morning for an hour-long segment with other musicians and performers, and the segment will repeat four times. Our performance was good, Becky was great, as usual. We will try to put a link to it after it airs on Christmas day.

Post Script: I'm writing this the day after Christmas, and the performance (and the entire program's entertainment) were really good. Becky's showmanship just gets better and better. We're all very pleased with it. I think it turned out better than the first taping we did for Fox 7, which was the Basta performance last summer.

The Chain Drive

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

We try to play as few weekday shows as possible. We don't find them to be a very fruitful experience, and this one was no exception. Small turnout, and we gave a fairly forgettable performance. We were excited to play a gay bar, and that was fun, but otherwise it was a lesson in why we try to keep our shows to weekends.

FREAKISH ENCOUNTER: A gay bar, so is it really that weird that a guy in the bathroom showed me his penis?

The Mug Room

Corpus Christi, Texas

About The Show:

I must apologize to every other place we've played so far for this next statement, but the Mug Room is officially the coolest place we've played yet. Sandy is super-cool, for starters, but aside from that, the place is cool, the clientele is cool, and the reaction we got was great. We love Corpus! BayFest was going on, and mark my word, next year we'll be playing at BayFest 08, but for this year, we had a good crowd considering such a big festival was having it's biggest night of the year in that city. I'm guessing there were about 150 people at the Mug Room. We played with Savor, had a good time with them, and hopefully established a nice relationship with them that we'll maintain for a while. It was a really good show, and we're eager to return to Corpus!

We have special plans for our Halloween show (Oct 27 at Trophy's in Austin), a few fun "spooky" cover songs, which we'll be working on over the coming three weeks, and we also plan to finish the year with adding quite a few new songs to our show, including two that are ready to go right now: Putiando and Cadenas. By New Year's we should have as many as 3-4 new songs, and a new show, too.

Post Script: The Trophy's show was canceled. Apparently, the owner double-booked another band, the other band got the gig instead of us, so this show didn't end up happening. We dropped by Trophy's on that night to see how things were and there was no one there other than the other bands watching. Our rescheduled show brought in nearly 100 people, so they definitely would've benefitted having us that night...we probably could've had capacity that night, or at least 150 people there.

About The Show:

This show was pretty uneventful, we had a decent crowd, maybe 50 people total, we played with Bolado. It was a different experience than the last time we played Ruta Maya Riverwalk...last time there was a sound man, and overall just a whole lot more organization than we experienced this time.

Rodeo Tierra Caliente

Dallas, Texas

About The Show:

Now, I could be mistaken about what actually happened at this show, but here's my account of this night...we showed up at 7pm, had our meal as provided by the promoter (who was a very friendly and ambitious guy), and we got our motel key and went back to our room to hang out. A total of twelve bands were playing, two stages, a large area for the audience...it looked promising. We were to have one of the later slots, so we were instructed to come back at 11:30 to prepare for our performance. In this time, Bolado (our friends from San Antonio) showed up, and they were not pleased. They didn't get the accomodations we got, the room and board, and they even had to pay to park at the venue! They decided to not play at all. So, we go back to the venue at 11pm or so, and we hear there are several bands still waiting to play before us. It's my opinion that the other bands were being very pushy and playing longer than they were supposed to play, although I could be mistaken. At midnight we asked once again about our time slot, and since we were to be the last band onstage, we still had 3-4 other bands waiting to play before us. Simple math shows that when those bands finished, it'd be 2am, and even if we could play past that hour, what was the point? The place wasn't very packed anyway, so we politely told the promoter to give us another show some other time, and we drove back to Austin, arriving after 4am. Somewhat of a letdown, and considering this was the show to follow the Madison Avenue debacle, it wasn't a good thing! But we had fun hanging out in the motel room with Bolado, so it was fine, we laughed it off, and hopefully we'll return to Dallas for a really good show.

FREAKISH ENCOUNTER: Where to begin? How about the large amount of crappy bands in Dallas that have no concern for anyone else.

Madison Avenue

San Antonio, Texas

About The Show:

We took a break to do some recording, to begin work on a video, and to forge a new direction with our live show...and now a month later, we're back...and what an impression we made at our return show! First, the good parts of this show--the venue is probably the coolest place we've ever played. The other positive we took out of this experience is that we are now banned from playing there again.

We showed up early, loaded our stuff, and we were really excited to play at this place. First weekend after UT-SA began, everyone expected a decent night. The owner came, a squatty little rodent of a man, and threw his ego around, telling us how we should've brought some microphones because he's too cheap and stupid to realize a shitty sound equates to a happy clientele. He was a real dick. In our world there are people who are part of the problem, and part of the solution. Most of us, I do believe, are part of the solution. This guy makes it shitty for the rest of us. Anyway, the sound was awful, and the place was practically empty on a Saturday night.

Afterward we asked the owner about pay, and he referred to us as just some lowly opening band not worthy of pay, that he never pays bands, that bands should feel honored to be allowed to play at his venue. The only honor he could give us is the opportunity to kick his ass. After Bolado played and the show was over, things got very heated between Christian and him, the club's security surrounded us before things got out of hand, the cops came, and we eventually left with him telling us we'd never play there again. Well, I do look forward to playing there again soon when it's under new management because he'll be out of business in a matter of months if that night's slim clientele was any indication. For as long as he'll be running the place (into the ground) Madison Avenue can suck it.

FREAKISH ENCOUNTER: Speaks for itself, how often do you nearly come to blows with the promoter...

The Venue

San Antonio, Texas

About The Show:

We love San Antonio. It wasn't a packed show, but it was a good show. This is our second trip to San Antonio, and I believe we might actually enjoy playing there more than Austin! Playing with Bolado definitely helps because those guys are just really cool, and getting to hang out with photographer Jack, and Karnaval's James...it's just a good time. The people that come out, they seem to really get into us, so it's just a good thing. We got to meet Martha Rockera and Veloz, who are both really cool. This was our first weekday show, we have an unspoken policy to not play during the week, but for the right show, we'll play it...for San Antonio, we'll do it!

This was the debut of our new bassist, Carlos Cantu, who did a good job. He had never played an actual show on a stage, so he did really well considering. Truth be known, we only had time to have ONE practice with him before this show, and I don't think that showed at all. He's a competent musician, and he practiced quite a bit! We have good chemistry, we're all very happy with him in this band.

Flamingo Cantina

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

The show got off to a late start, not sure why, but we didn't go until until the bar was about ready to close. We had our set-list, and we scrapped more than half of it...we played about 25 minutes, but it was a really cool night. The other bands were great, in particular Radio La Chusma & Supaphat. The place was packed, to the extent that getting a drink at the bar was almost more trouble than it was worth. Definitely the best night we've played in Austin. We were dropping songs on the fly, and I wish we had chosen more of the mellow songs to play, such as Cayo Hueso and El Fuego Dentro, but maybe next time.

FREAKISH ENCOUNTER: One of the other bands on the bill, who shall remain nameless, showed themselves to be pretty racist against white people. They had some bad energy, and I hope we don't play with them again in the future.

FOX 7 Morning Show in Austin

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

This was our first televised experience, and it went really well. Our main song was Basta, and we played a portion of three other songs as "bumps" (where we play for like 10-20 seconds and they go out to the commercial break). The songs we played in the bumps were, in order, La Llorona, Gleam, then Basta as a full song, and finally a portion of El Fuego Dentro. You can see the video, at least for a while, on our MySpace page.

Red Eyed Fly - Battle Of The Bands

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

Again playing as a four-piece, we were the first to go on, and the band that followed us packed the house--they were young, still in school, and they had tons of classmates there, and many parents, they brought that place close to capacity, so they had us beaten pretty well! No big deal...the finals are Sept 1, and Bolado has offered us a show in San Antonio on that same night, so we're good. The best thing about the show tonight was that Becky's coworker Carlos asked to be Timo's replacement on bass, so we'll see how that works out. If it goes well, we'll remain a 5-piece.

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

We didn't plug this show as well as we could've, and it showed...we had about 25 people. On July 4, Romalotti got in the middle of a dog fight (his own two Scotties) and was bitten on the left hand. It swelled up, it was not a good scene, and therefore missed this night's show. Sat out on the sidelines, so the show was missing that melodic dreamy side, but everything went well!

Jovita's

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

We played with Boca Abajo, which is a good mix for us because we collectively had about 60-70 people at this show...but unfortunately this particular show was not one of our better performances. A broken string, a few mishaps, but this show will be remembered as a turning point. I could feel it in the air between us. For one, we know for certain Timo is leaving us, he's given us his notice, and Saturday, July 21 at Flamingo Cantina will be his last show. We have decided to become a four-piece with his departure. Becky will likely strap on the guitar and play on a few songs, while Romalotti will move over to playing bass again. Incidentally, Romalotti has only ever played bass in bands other than Frenetica, so that move is a very natural step.

Aside from that, the show tonight was just average and lackluster, we played through our songs, we played them okay, and we should be satisfied with that, but there's a level of intensity and showmanship that we aspire to obtain--we're not there yet, and tonight it was clear. Therefore, we're going to revamp our entire show after Timo is gone, adding details and nuances that'll make us much more than a band with catchy pop songs...we'll become a band that puts on a memorable show. We want to be saucy and sassy like Queen or Goldfrapp. The show needs more lipstick and high-heels, a little blush and maybe even a colorful boa to make it all sassy and chic. The show needs to rock your ass off, and it will. The shows we've played thus far, we've been mostly good, sometimes great, even...but we have ideas and plans to become untouchable. We're very excited about this new direction, and tonight's dull performance is just fuel for that change.

About The Show:

We officially love San Antonio! Our first show in San Antonio, and we had a damn good time. We got to play with Karnaval (San Antonio) and Cuervo (Houston), and it was just a really good show. We played second after Karnaval, and we had a great reception. Roughly 50 people were there, it was not a busy night because Jaguares were also in town (they ended up canceling their show), but those in attendance at Ruta Maya Riverwalk were properly entertained. We hung out with James from Karnaval and Carlos & Mario from Bolado after the show...our kind of people! Cool guys, and I hope we get to play with them a lot more in the future. The audience of roughly 50 people was complimentary, but I don't think we gave as good a performance as we're capable. We'll return to Houston, and hopefully we'll have a better experience. Red Eyed Fly

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

When we started playing at this great Austin outdoor venue, it was just starting to rain. Just as our last song was about to begin ("Basta"), the storm was so strong that it blew out the power in downtown Austin! The wind and rain was blowing through the cracks in the wall and ceiling, but fortunately nothing was damaged. The crowd, along with us, were herded into the bar where we stayed for a few hours in the darkness having drinks and talking! It was quite an odd show experience. The show went really well, and if not for the weather, would definitely have been our biggest Austin crowd yet. This was definitely a night to remember. Oh, it was also Charlotte's birthday (Becky and Timo's sister), so we had cake and chips/salsa. Happy birthday, Charlotte!

Dirty Dog - Austin Vida R5CK de Mayo Show

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

This show was the most relaxed we have ever been, and we had a good crowd. The venue was nice, the sound was a bit muffled, but not too bad. Of the five bands that played, we had the second largest audience, and we were the first band to play. We had probably 30 people there to see us, possibly more. There was interesting man there who stumbled in off the streets, we later learned his name was Lee. He stood right in front of the stage, danced wildly, and praised the hell out of us between every song! He thought Becky was the most beautiful and talented woman on the planet! We have video from the show posted on our MySpace page.

FREAKISH ENCOUNTER: Becky successfully attracted some old white man named Lee who just loved her and everything she did. He stood at the front of the stage dancing like a mad-man, cheering like a crazed fan.

About The Show:

We played on a Sunday afternoon, not the best time to go see live music, but we ended up getting roughly 30-40 people there, which was a nice surprise. We played between two bluegrass bands, so the billing was kind of interesting, but we had a good show and we brought the only audience that was there in attendance. Jovita's is a great place to play. About The Show:

This was one of the first shows we booked since we felt we'd get a decent crowd with Kingsville being Timo and Becky's hometown, and we were right, we had roughly 130 people there to see us. It was a good time, a lot of familiar faces, and everyone seemed to have a good time. We debuted our new shirts at this show, and sold quite a few shirts and CDs. Todd played a drum solo before Gleam and it was quite a performance...although he did cut it short. It was a good show, a good after party, and we look forward to returning. We opened for Livon, which features the saxophonist from our CD, Jonas Q, on bass. Todd's hamburger got flung onto the wall by Christian, and we were interviewed after the show, during which Christian screamed the entire time. Good times.

Troubadour Saloon

Austin, Texas

About The Show:

This was the first show we ever played, but we didn't make a big deal about it since it was the first show we ever played! We were very well practiced, we made sure to not book a show until we were ready to put on a great show...we had been practicing for nearly a year, and were extremely tight and focused. We didn't want to debut our live show until we were seriously ass-kicking, and it turned out very well for us, the reaction was quite warm. Speaking of warm, it was a very warm evening, and the stage lights made it uncomfortably hot...we practically had two guitarists passing out from heat exhaustion! The show went well, we guessed that roughly 60 people came out to see us, which defied our expectations. Oh, another thing, it was a very rainy day, but it had stopped by the time we took the stage at 9pm. The ceiling was leaking, and I'm not sure if it was leaking from the AC (I think it was), or there were leaks from the rain, but we had to position our instruments and ourselves so that we avoided the drips on an otherwise tiny stage already! It made for an intimate environment, but for a first show, it was about as good as any band could expect. Thanks to Bocastria for booking us.
